Anel's Philosophy of Social Justice
Social Justice means both sides coming together in the argument without a person being the wrong one or the right one. However, there are variations to how that can be portrayed. For example, if a person isn't being truthful in what they’re saying just so that their story can be pitied or so that the other person can be vilified, that for me isn't social justice. For me, social justice means to own up to your mistakes and knowing who you really are. Social justice has fully impacted me into seeing what it truly means; it has taken me time to actually narrow it down to my own words because social justice can have many meanings. Ultimately, however, it means taking ownership in your own actions.
The obstacles that we face while struggling to achieve social justice is other peoples’ bias that have influenced us in the way we think. People can seem like they are superior when in reality they are just holding us down. Having these type of people influence us in such a way only worsens things. At times we don’t want to be “independent” because we think that others would think different of us, or we fear people will go against us. We need to become independent of our own ideas and the way we express ourselves because if not we won’t make a difference in this world.
The techniques that help us achieve Social Justice are by gathering creative minds together and making a good strategy out of those ideas. Also, positive vibes help us achieve anything because when being negative everything goes downhill. Negativity only brings more issues and when trying to achieve justice it only worsens things out. For example, Cesar Chavez did not use violence when trying to improve the treatment of farmer workers.
My role in the struggle is to contribute as much as I can because if I just sit back and see all the negativity flowing through it makes this world a worse place to live in. There are a lot of issues surrounding us that we should not ignore, and I would be totally devoted into putting my part into it. These issues shouldn't be ignored because they can escalate quickly and create more issues. For example, my concern is animal testing because these animals are used for testing’s that are very harmful and can take their life away. Animals obviously don’t have a voice so they can’t stand up for themselves, so that’s how they are taken advantage of.
My chosen issue is related to social justice because it is really unfair to not treat animals as humans. Animals also hurt like humans and just torturing them into these test isn't right, especially with the given fact, as that, that they obviously don’t have a voice.
